Although Jesus knew he was going to the Cross, he willingly made his humble entry to fulfill the prophecy, “See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

Cursing the Fig Tree
Have you ever wondered why Jesus cursed the fig tree? Perhaps the tree was defiant and selfish, not wanting to give its life to others. Jesus, who came to give life, set an example for all plants and animals that we can freely eat. HOWEVER, the tree wasn’t in season to give fruit!
I was watching the Chosen episode at this moment, and it offered an interesting take on why Jesus cursed the fig tree. Mark 11:13
This video by Brandon Robbins pays close attention to detail and shows the connection between the fig tree and Jerusalem’s temple and leaders, which were bearing no fruit. Robbins references Jeremiah 8:13 to refer back to a sick and withering fig tree:
“‘I will take away their harvest,
declares the Lord.
There will be no grapes on the vine.
There will be no figs on the tree,
and its leaves will wither.
What I have given them
will be taken from them.[a]’”

Mount of Olives: This is the place where I felt what it means to be betrayed, when I was a tourist in Israel. And so did Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane below the Mount of Olives, a couple of days later.
I sat and cried overlooking the same city where Jesus gave his ‘Olivet Discourse’, a prophecy over Jerusalem.
How to Commemorate Holy Week This Year: A Free Guide to Remember Passover, The Last Supper & Maundy Thursday

The Bread of Life (Jesus) prepared his disciples for his Body to be broken for humanity, for his blood to be shed for our salvation as the Sacrificial Passover Lamb.
On this day, Jesus humbly washed his disciples’ feet (John 13:1-5), hence Maundy Thursday.
Remember Good Friday

A Lamb that was led to the slaughter willingly gave his life without making a sound, “Like a sheep being led to the slaughter or a lamb that is silent before her shearers, he did not open his mouth” (Isaiah 53:7).
Jesus fulfilled the meaning of the Passover on this day. His crucifixion marks the beginning stage of our Salvation.

In the Tomb
While Jesus’ Body lay in the Tomb, His Spirit was at work taking back the keys to Death and Hades.
“Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one; I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.” Revelation 1:17.
Remember Resurrection Sunday

An Empty Tomb
Three days after his crucifixion, Jesus completed his mission as Saviour of the World. “Don’t be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen.” (Matthew 28:5-6).
Time to celebrate and rejoice.
This is the true meaning of Easter!
