“How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide”

By carlislebee | March 19, 2026

“How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide” is here just in time for Spring Cleaning and will help you prepare for the annual urge to declutter, detox, and simplify your home.

My in-depth “How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide” will help you understand what is required to live a healthier lifestyle. Your inner space reflects in the quality of HOME, and vice versa. Not only will detoxing your home look better, but it will also make you feel better all around.

“How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide” Includes

“How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide” includes recipes, tips, updated information, thought-provoking insight on gratitude & nature, and several links to products and supplies I personally use daily. You can download it here:

The Philosophy of Natural Living

"How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide"

At what point in history did humanity become so disconnected from the natural world around us?

Was it the chemical revolution? The industrial revolution? Or way before?

Why did we discredit Native Americans’ approach to living in harmony with Earth and all her inhabitants?

The number one way to improve your health and well-being is to embrace the earth’s magnetic field, cherish the sunshine, and feel the vibration of the wind, bees, and fragrant flowers.

While natural living can be embraced in our homes, it starts outside, in nature.

"How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide"

Bringing the natural world inside our homes is our goal.

From the textiles we sleep on every night to the cleaning products we use.

It all should be sourced from nature, safe for you, your family, your pets, and the earth.

I have researched what is best for my family and me in each season of life.

I have tested many of these products and recipes I share.

Nothing that I recommend will be what I don’t personally believe in.

A few things I have learned throughout this process are that it takes time and money.

Being patient and not fear-based will help you on this journey to a powerful position.

Understanding that there is grace for the times we live in is important because, without grace, there is fear.

Fear-based decisions ultimately lead you to make the wrong decision.

I recommend taking your time in researching the best options for you and your family.

“How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide” in Just 4 Steps:

"How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide"

Step 1: ‘Ditch the Toxins’

Start with different areas of the home. Go through your cabinets and look at the products you are using.

If they are considered unsafe, dispose of them properly.

A good way to check if you are unsure is by using the EWG Website to verify.

Facts and Stats:

Did you know “Chemicals can come out of our products and end up in the air and dust in the home, where they can enter your body,” says Dr. Ami Zota, an environmental and public health expert at George Washington University.

Her team recently discovered 45 chemicals commonly found in indoor dust. Many of the identified chemicals belong to a group called ‘endocrine disruptors.’ “ -NIH

A common list of harmful products includes:

  • fragrant candles
  • traditional laundry detergents
  • plastic dishwasher pods
  • cleaning sprays
  • paints
  • SLS soaps and shampoos

These products have endocrine-disrupting chemicals.

Step 2: Make the Swap

"How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide"

Once you have identified the harmful ingredients in your products, take note of these sneaky ingredients that may be present in ‘greenwashed’ products.

It is important to know that some companies seemingly ‘trick’ the consumer by making the item look ‘green’ and eco-friendly, but have the same toxic ingredients you are trying to avoid.

For example, a company might claim to be green in their dish soap, but they still add ‘fragrance’ and Sodium laureth sulfate (SLS).

“Sodium laureth sulfate has been implicated in several health concerns, including skin and eye irritation, but the main problem with this chemical is the fact that it’s frequently contaminated by 1,4 dioxane, a known carcinogen that is a common by-product of the manufacturing process [2].” -forceofnatureclean

Not to be confused with sodium laurel sulfate, which is derived from coconut oil or palm oil, which is safer.

Now that you know the difference between ingredients, you can make powerful decisions in replacing your household items.

Step 3 ‘Better Textiles and Furniture’

"How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide"

While you may have swapped your toxic household products for non-toxic products, the next step is to examine your furniture.

Our rooms are supposed to be a safe place to relax and get restful sleep.

Identify what may be causing allergens or irritants from things like:

  • bedding (blankets, sheets, comforters, pillows)
  • mattresses
  • furniture pieces
  • ECOS paint
  • decor (rugs and lighting)
  • pet beds and toys

Bedding:

Synthetic fabrics for blankets and sheets, such as

  • rayon
  • polyester
  • nylon
  • acrylic

are toxic and will leach into your body systems… especially at night when you’re sleeping.

Mattresses, Pillows, Paint, Rugs, Couches, and Particle-Board Furniture are mostly made from petroleum-based products like

  • polyurethane
  • synthetic latex foam
  • polyester
  • formaldehyde
  • polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic for waterproof liners

These components off-gas VOCs, which are linked to serious health risks like asthma, depression, eczema, cancer, etc.

Step 4: ‘Replace Toxic Furniture’

"How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide"

Now, I know what you are thinking,

“Am I supposed to throw out everything and start over?”

There is much to consider as we fill our homes with beautiful furniture and decor.

It can be overwhelming and very expensive very quickly.

I recommend taking it slow and prioritizing what is most important to you in this season. Another fun option is to thrift…if you can score non-toxic items!

If replacing bedsheets is a feasible step, go for that first!

Great options for bedding include textiles from nature, such as

  • wool
  • linen
  • organic cotton
  • organic kapok cotton
  • sheepskin

If you are looking for furniture such as couches or dressers, instead of buying cheap particleboard pieces that contain formaldehyde-based glue, you can search for secondhand furniture that has already off-gassed.

Or buy solid wood pieces that are eco-friendly and healthy for you!

“How to Detox Your Home: A Free Guide” Conclusion

You deserve to live in a home that is safe, clean, and positive

A low-tox home can elevate your way of life.

It can improve your well-being and bring focus and clarity.

A space that invites others into healing and peace.

The number one thing I recommend, regardless of how ‘clean’ your lifestyle is, and more importantly, above all else, is to be thankful for what you have.

With all things, Give Thanks.

If you have a home and want to steward it well, steward it with Love and Gratitude.

Doing anything without the Grace of God and Love is meaningless and void.

It is better to pair a non-toxic lifestyle with Love and Gratitude.

We live in an imperfect world

Because we live in a fallen world, nothing will be perfect.

You may inevitably have certain products in your home that are not considered ‘clean’ or natural.

The key is not to stress over it.

Overcoming and letting go are powerful tools in our toolbelt that will help us live longer!

I’m speaking to myself here too 🙂
